Fourth of July in SF

I%26#39;d like to know what special events are happening in SF over the Fourth of July. My sister and I will be in SF from the 2nd thru 6th, celebrating our 55th and 60th birthdays together.

We%26#39;re especially interested in fireworks and in a perfect world we%26#39;d like to view them from our hotel. If you know of hotels that overlook areas where there would be fireworks on the Fourth, would you please post? We%26#39;d like to stay someplace nice, but not over the top expensive (no presidential suite at the St. Francis...)

We will not have a car and will rely on public transportation and taxis. We%26#39;d prefer to stay in the main ';tourist'; areas. Would appreciate any suggestions for things to do that are special events or short term engagements especially including theater.

Thanks!

see the SFGate site for finding performances http://www.sfgate.com/eguide/performance/

hotels at Fisherman%26#39;s Wharf with a Bay View room would be where you%26#39;d see the fireworks, however you needed to book at least a month or more ago to secure a room. Maybe you can see from the hotels on Nob hill but that may be too pricey for you. You can stay on Lombard street in the Marina and walk to the fireworks from there. Comfort Inn by the Bay, Cow Hollow Motor Inn, Hotel Del Sol, those are just a few options out of many in the Marina.

I can tell you what we are doing. The conceirge (sp?) at our place recommended going out on a boat to look at the fireworks. He told us to book with Adventure Cats which we booked on the web. We plan to dress warmly and have fun.

Thanks for the advice. I love the idea of being on the water for the fireworks and will check into that ASAP. I also appreciate the advice on a bay view room. I sometimes have very good luck on hotel rooms when I book late - twice now I%26#39;ve been upgraded at Hiltons to Executive floor rooms at no charge. Pretty sweet surprise! So, I%26#39;ll shoot for a bay view room at one of the hotels and will also try to get reservations for the fireworks on the water - one of them will pan out I%26#39;m sure!

Here is a guide to what is going on in San fran on the 4th that I think you might enjoy.

Good luck on your trip!

Here are some links for watching from the water. If you do this, BUNDLE UP! It%26#39;s quite cool on the Bay (and often on land, as well).

I did the boat thing one exceptionally warm year. I got sooooo seasick. It was one of my worst fourth of Julys.
