I don%26#39;t know the area very well, so can anyone give me directions on how to get to the beach in Newport from the Disneyland area without a car. Are there any buses or do we need to take a taxi?
What%26#39;s the beach weather like in October?
Thanks
Easy way to reach to the beach for Disneyland areaSorry about the misspelling in the tittle, should say from the Disneyland area.
Easy way to reach to the beach for Disneyland areaYou can go to mapquest.com and print out a map to take with you on your travels. This is a great website with detailed directions! Enjoy your time in CA! :)
You can take a train to san clemente, which is a very nice beach, you need to check the schedules, only some of the trains stop at the beach. The anaheim stran stop is only a few minutes from disneyland
I%26#39;ve stayed in the Disneyland area many times and visited Newport many times too. We have always had a car and have found it takes anything from 30 to 50 minutes to drive (depending on the time of day.) I think it would take much longer than this if you used a bus because of all the stops.
Try the Orange County Transport Authority for information:

and check out the bus route map:

It looks like you would have to take two buses to get to the coast.
Hope this helps.
So maybe renting a car for the day would be a good option after all?
Is it easy to drive to the beach?
How much would a car cost for a day?
The bus route is to take the 43 south from Harbor Blvd to the end of the route in Costa Mesa, then transfer to the 71. Takes about 2 hours each way, so a rental car is a very good option.
There are many rental car companies that have an office within blocks of the Disneyland Resort, a one day rental would be around $50 for a basic car. Shop around, I know that Enterprise, Avis, Hertz, Alamo, and National are on Katella, I might have missed one or two other companies.
If you are driving the best option take the 5 south (get into the carpool lane) to the 55 south, the freeway ends in Costa Mesa, and turns into a street, just keep going forward, it ends in Newport Beach, at the end of the penisula.
Or if you don%26#39;t want to mess with the freeways take Katella (one of the main streets in the resort area) west to Beach Blvd.(about 2 miles) make a left go about 6-7 miles directly to the beach in Huntington Beach.
mhn14, I for one really appreciate that you provided the directions via streets as opposed to going on the freeways!
We are not used to taking freeways everywhere and I find that when given directions using the freeways it seems quite complex.
Last time we we going to Medieval Times we were give some directions from our hotel to there using the
freeways and although it must be faster, it seemed so confusing to us.
We live in fear of missing an exit and not knowing how to backtrack!
So I looked it up on a map myself and discovered that we could get there with two streets and one right hand turn.
It may have taken longer but it sure was a lot less stressful for us!
I%26#39;ve learned when using mapquest to get directions with or without freeways/highways and sometimes the time difference is not much!
So daunting
Mama,
Here is the website for Hertz Car Rental.
https:/…
If you look on the left side of the page, you will see specials on the ';menu';. Click on that and you can see special offers that can save you money. Lately, there have been weekend specials that require 3 days and are 50% off. Sometimes for a one day rental you can use an ';upgrade'; special or a special that gives you a free tank of gas.
Hertz is near or in the Marriot Hotel that is next to the Convention Center (across from Disneyland).
Sorry, for some reason that link didn%26#39;t show up. I will try to post again. If it doesn%26#39;t work, try
