My son and I will be in San Francisco for 2 days and would like to do one of the tours.
The Shuttle tour and Mr Toad%26#39;s tour seem like the best options. Which one would you recommend?
San Francisco Shuttle Tour(5hr) or Mr Toad's Postcard Tour
I did the shuttle tour and it was great (I need to get round to the review). It was a good way to get an overview of the city and its nice to have walking to do not just sitting in a shuttle the whole time.
However if your son is young Mr Toad%26#39;s might be a lot more fun for him. It looks like a very unique tour and always gets good reviews on here.
San Francisco Shuttle Tour(5hr) or Mr Toad's Postcard Tour
My son is 21 so not too young. Both tours look really good and do get good reviews. Just trying to pick the best.
Last September, my 27 year old neice and husband were here. Because the bridge was closed, we couldn%26#39;t drive around. So we did the five hour Mr. Toad......they both loved it and are still talking about it months and months later.
We haven%26#39;t done the shuttle tour, but loved Mr. Toads
Thanks. I don%26#39;t see a 5 hr tour - do you mean the 3 hr?
It does look a wee bit different. Do you think it gives a good insight into San Francisco?
Sorry, yes I do mean the 3 hour. I do think you get a good feel for SF. You see a lot more than just Union Square and Fisherman%26#39;s wharf. We have a lot more than what they cover, but you get a good idea. Also we liked that the groups were kind of small. We%26#39;ve done the double decker hop on and hop off tours, where you get a taped commentary. This was about 10 people with a live person pointing things out and answering questions.
Thanks for your help.
Do you know if you need to book in advance or can you just turn up - we%26#39;re due to be in SF 12/13th July?
The shuttle tour offers a much more comprehensive tour of The City but Mr Toad looks like fun.
Given the small numbers on each Mr Toad tour it might be best to book ahead.
How easy is it to get on and off the shuttle tour? Have bad knees and don%26#39;t want to crawl around a seat like some shuttles have!
LovemyAcura,
They are not shuttles like Airport shuttles. You are right they can be hell to get into and out of sometimes.
They are 35 seater shuttle buses and although I don%26#39;t know how bad your knees are I think you will be fine.
Have a look at their website to see a pic of their fleet shuttles.

The shuttles are quite comfortable. No climbing over anyone which is nice.
The is one walk down a hill which is a little hard on the knees but they do say that anyone not wanting to do it can stay on the shuttle its not a problem. Everyone on our shuttle did it and were allowed to go at their own pace.
The other walks on the tour are pretty short and fairly flat.
