Hi!
Me and my boyfriend are planning a drive-on-our-own-vacation in America (never been before) and we would like to finish it by spending about 4 days in San Diego.
At first I was looking at beach resorts, as we would like to relax and enjoy the sun and the beach, but I found the resorts to expensive for our budget. And since we have a car I figure we might not need to stay at the beach or close to it to get a great vacation i SD? But if not, in which area is recommended to stay? Any area not recommenden?
We are 25 and 30 years of age, loooking to relax, lay at the beach, enjoy good food and stroll around. Ofcourse also some shopping and the must-see-places!
Hotelbudget max $200 per night in total. Don%26#39;t need to be fanciest place, more important to meet our needs (cosy) and clean ofcourse:)
thanx so much for your help - in advance

HELP - where to stay in San Diego?
Would you please tell us the dates you are coming as sometimes there are different prices at different times of the year.
There are lots of different areas.
You do not mention an interest in nightlife:bars, dance clubs etc.IF that is of interest then you would stay in our downtown area or perhaps at/near Pacific Beach.
Other possibilities include Shelter Island(not really an island),OldTown,Little Italy(the northern part of downtown).I could make more specific hotel recs if I knew your dates.
HELP - where to stay in San Diego?
sorry, forgot the dates, we%26#39;re expecting to stay in SD 16th-20th July (+-1 day). I don%26#39;t think we will party so much over there, but instead enjoy good food and wine, and drinks in the evening - definitely.
Thanx again:)
Kind regards
Jennie
Am having some trouble finding you ';cozy';. A few places I tried are all booked up.
I came across a surprising possibility at one of our popular downtown hotels. The Omni has rooms available. I didn%26#39;t get to their web site but on Expedia they are showing rooms at$181 . please ignore the high hotel parking charge because there is a nice garage across the street that will charge around $12 to park overnight.
Another idea BUT much less posh(by a lot) would be the Ocean Beach Hotel. It is definitely not posh BUT it is on a beach where mostly locals go as there are few hotels there. The area has a surfer/hippy feel with lots of restaurants right there and free parking.
Let us know what you find.
Have you considered Priceline. I use it all time for San diego and your stay is short enough. I would look at a 4star in San diego costal or downtown area. I also use Del Mar! I think you may get for between 90 to 125 or so. Check out biddingfortravel.com and locate san diego and check out winning bids on priceline. Use can also see all hotels in san diego and check each area in teh 3 star and 4 star and make sure all hotels fit your needs I usually get the Hyatt in la jolla which is in university city. very central to beaches in lA JOLLA ETC. If you need more info feel free to contact me. I use priceline in San Diego about 4 times month for business travel. I get a 3 star room around $50 every time.
Priceline has limited availability in non-United States countries. You%26#39;ll need to check Priceline%26#39;s website to see if Denmark is on their list for international customers.
Yes Priceline is avail for people from Denmark!
