Naples to California
I really fancy taking a break in Naples. However, I suspect that 4 days would probably be enough for me and my partner.
Sadly, I don’t think there are enough alternative locations nearby to warrant a touring type holiday.
So I am considering doing a tour of California before flying to Naples for 4 nights at the end of the holiday.
My initial inquiries looked at flights from SF to Miami or Fort Myers. However, both seemed to involve very long flights 7 hrs (although is this due to time zones) and changing flights.
a) are there alternative airport options I should look at (which are direct)?
b) Is it worth going to the hassle of flying all the way to Miami then a 2.5hr drive for 4 days in Naples?
My initial thought is start our holiday in Santa Monica, do a tour of National Parks, then end in Naples (having flown there).
We’re not very good at just “doing nothing” so I like to combine quieter places and National Parks, with some more luxurious and/or decadent places too.
Appreciate that this may seem ludicrous… but being an ignorant European, not 100% sure on the logistics (everywhere in the UK is driveable within half a day ;o) )
San Francisco to Naples (or vice versa)
If you really want to go to Naples, Fort Myers is much closer than Miami. (Miami might be cheaper to fly to.) I%26#39;m not sure what%26#39;s so special about Naples, though. I%26#39;ve been there, and it%26#39;s a nice place, but it%26#39;s not worth flying cross-country to spend 4 days there. If you fly there from California, you%26#39;ll be sitting in an airplane for at least six hours.
If you%26#39;ve already booked your tickets through Miami, then spending a few days in Naples might make sense. But if you haven%26#39;t booked your tickets yet, and aren%26#39;t forced to fly through Miami, there are plenty of decadent places to relax in California or Arizona. Maybe Palm Springs.
San Francisco to Naples (or vice versa)OK thanks Simba. Thats exactly the advice I was after.
I was only considering it in terms of breaking up the trip I am currently planning.
It seems to be top heavy with national parks at the moment so want to mix it up with city/beach/shopping type places. Our previous trip took in LA, Vegas and San Francisco amongst others, so dont really want to go back there again.
This trip will take in Santa Monica and Palm Springs already (I think).
