The Pacific coast highway goes inland in the long beach area, what you can do though is to take the freeway from anaheim to the queen mary and drive thru san padro/harbor area thru Palos Verdes. Stunning views to say the least, nice drive and you can continue on the drive thru Manhatten Beach, maybe even Venice Beach and Santa Monica

From Anaheim, you can take Brookhurst St. to Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach. Follow PCH up to Long Beach (you%26#39;ll pass through Bolsa Chica, Sunset Beach, and Seal Beach first) and turn left on Second St. Continue on Second St. through Naples and Belmont Shore and follow the traffic as it bears left onto Livingston Dr. which will turn into Ocean Blvd. You%26#39;ll be able to see the Queen Mary from here. If you want a closer look, follow the signs from downtown Long Beach. When you get to the parking entrance, tell them you%26#39;re meeting friends at the Observation Bar and you should be able to skip the parking fee and enter the ship from the lobby of the hotel. You might also consider having lunch while you%26#39;re there.

Once through downtown Long Beach, I%26#39;d take the bridge over to San Pedro. Exit Gaffey and take it to 25th St. That will take you through Rancho Palos Verdes along the coast. I recommend a stop at Wayfarer%26#39;s Chapel.

Thank you so much for the detailed route going to see if i can map it on google putting in the places you have mentioned

how long roughly would this drive take

Thank you both

Annemarie

I live near PCH between Palos Verdes and LAX, so I have a few ideas for you. First, just so you aren%26#39;t disappointed, though it%26#39;s the Pacific Coast Hwy, you won%26#39;t see much coast till well north of LAX. I agree that turning off to tour the Palos Verdes Peninsula is a great idea.

Then, as you head north you might enjoy stopping in Hermosa Beach or Manhattan Beach for food and a walk in one a residential beach town. Basically, from PCH just turn left onto Pier Ave in Hermosa or onto Manhattan Beach Blvd in MB and go to the ocean. There%26#39;s a little downtown and a pier for strolling in each town.

I recommend you continue north on PCH into Santa Monica, as it%26#39;s there that you get the ocean views most people associate with LA. You might stop at the Santa Monica pier. Then you can take Santa Monica Blvd eastbound to Hollywood, with possible stops in Century City and Bev Hills. All this could easily be 4 to 5 hours or more. Enjoy!
