Where to rent a car other than SFO?

Planning to arrive at SFO on a Friday and want to spend day at Wharf and then want to rent a car to travel to Santa Cruz. Does anyone know of any convienent car rental places? Thanks.

Where to rent a car other than SFO?

Are you staying over at a Wharf hotel? Just wondering, since you%26#39;ll have luggage and don%26#39;t expect to take it sightseeing with you.

Many of the major rental companies have multiple locations in S.F. Among others, Avis, Hertz, and Enterprise have Fisherman%26#39;s Wharf outlets.

You might want to do some research on line before deciding, because all locations may not have the same rates. I can%26#39;t speak for all of them, but I do know that airport rates can differ from in-town, and you might pay more in a major tourist area than an outlying neighborhood. If you%26#39;re willing to take a bus or cab to a more residential area, you might pay less.

We recently hired a car from Avis in Fishermans Wharf (the ';500 Beach Street'; location, in Anchorage Shopping Centre car park). We found the rates from there were actually cheaper for us (booking through avis.co.uk, including insurance) than booking from SFO. Didn%26#39;t have any problems, there was no queue at the counter, and they had the car that we booked ready and waiting to go. It was handy for us, as it was just one block away from our hotel (the HI Express), and we could just drive back to hotel and park in the hotel driveway for 15 minutes to load our luggage in and set off.
