For some reason when I search in Trip advisor for the Cliff House Restaurant in Fort Bragg, CA nothing comes up. I understand that the restaurant is no longer owned by the same person that owns The TradeWinds Lodge. Can someone tell me if the menu has stayed the same as before? How is the food? I noticed that before the staff rotated from the coffee shop at the Lodge to the restaurant. Since the restaurant has changed hands, has the staff changed also?
Thanks.
Cliff House Restaurant
Lousy restaurant!!!!!!
We were visting Fort Bragg during the holidays and we decided to try out this resaurant. We arrived at 5:30PM on a SATURADAY and no one was in there eating. After standing in the lobby for about 5 minutes a guy who we passed in the parking lot who was playing with his son came up to the desk and grabbed some menus and told us he would show us to our seats.
I asked him if he saw us come us the driveway into the restaurant and he replied yes. I then told him that we were standing in their for 5 minutes before he came and he shrugged his shoulders and said that he was just playing with his son and besides they weren%26#39;t really busy. As we walked down to the table area i could clearly see that no a single person was in the dinning area, I counted 4 people in the bar area close to the lobby. At that point my wife decided to leave and then the manager came unglued. What a jerk. I hope this restaurant goes out of business so someone who cares about it will take care of the customers.
Cliff House Restaurant
We have eaten there many times. It is good food, good service. The only drawback is the menu doesn%26#39;t seem to change.
You are correct Cliff House Restaurant was under new ownership. The Cliff House sold in August 2003. The individual who purchased the restaurant is no longer in business as of September 2007. The previous owner will be renovating restaurnat and plans are to open in Spring of 2008. Web site is under construction, the address will be www.FortBraggCliffHouse.com We hope to see you in the Spring...
Yes, totally lousy restaurant!!!
We were there on a tuesday evening (June 2008) on a recommendation from someone in Mendo.
When we sat down, the table was sticky w/crumbs on it,the silverware was visibly not washed very well (had to dip it into our water glas to clean it), %26amp; the water glasses on the table were visibly stained (cloudy) from going through a dishwasher. The atmosphere was dismall at best.
The waitress, Kim, kept making mistakes w/our order %26amp; not bringing drinks ordered. She mentioned that she was ';taxed'; w/so many tables to ';bus';. Besides us, there were only 4 other tables w/parties of two each. Hate to see what Kim would be like if ALL the tables in the restaurant were occupied!
The food was terrible. Over-cooked vegetables %26amp; seafood. Rice pilaf was not fresh. Presented in 1980%26#39;s style. The owner needs to wake up to the changes in food presentation %26amp; cooking since then!!! They don%26#39;t know how to cook seafood %26amp; they%26#39;re right on the ocean.
We don%26#39;t recommend this restaurant. Their LACK of enthusiasm %26amp; pride in what they do shows.
