coming to Yosemite in mid August ... best place to get ';to die for'; photos... would love to come when there is snow, but can%26#39;t...... love to take pictures too..... while I am at it... any advice on San Francisco...staying overnight, two days of sightseeing, plan is for Alcatraz, Muir woods, and Coit tower, and of course the bridge... any other things I could squeeze in without killing myself, husband and son?

Chinatown is fun, lots of great food and the shops have very unique stuff that make good inexpensive gifts to take back home to friends. Also be sure to ride the famous trolley cars. Hanging on the sides is a real adventure on narrow streets as is being in the very front - quite a few as you head down the steep hills.

One great spot for photos in Yosemite is Glacier Point. Another is the bridge below Vernal Falls, which you reach by a short walk on a trail. And stroll the trails along the river or through the meadows until you find a great view of half Dome.
For San Francisco, if you enjoy walking the one suggestion I have is to walk up to Coit Tower on the steps. There are 2 sets, the Filbert Steps and the Greenwich Steps. both start from Sansome St., and you can go up one and down the other.
The stairways are wooden and wind among small homes (some with access only by the steps) and amazing gardens. This area is home to the famous ';Parrots of Telegraph Hill';.
