A quick background story: 2 years ago my husband, myself and 2 kids(13%26amp;15) left Hollywood to drive to Monterey. Went up the 5 then cut across to James Dean Memorial, stopped in Cambria then at Hearst Castle.Whilst at Hearst Castle, my husband went in his wallet to get a penny and quarters for the machine that prints on the penny. All hell broke loose when he discovered the safety deposit key for the box at our hotel in Hollywood, which still contained our passports and flight tickets!!!
After arguements galore and the kids and me deciding that as Dad checked out and had the key, it was his fault and HE was driving back to L.A. ( the hotel would not open the box and FedEx the contents!) We decided to carry on up to Monterey, get to the motel and Keith would drive back overnight to L.A. From Hearst Castle we just drove without enjoying any of the scenery which I was really looking foreward to, especially the elephant seals. I do remember driving over a scary bridge.
Next year we are going back! Driving from San Fran to San Diego, giving ourselves 2 weeks. Any avice on places to go and see and stay between Monterey and L.A would be gratefuly appreciated. Sorry it wasn%26#39;t such a quick background story!
can anyone give us some advice please?
Too bad you didn%26#39;t enjoy the views two years ago. Right now, fire is raging through Big Sur and, I%26#39;m sure, the scenery will be quite different as you drive down the highway on your next visit.
When you say you%26#39;re giving yourself 2 weeks, do you mean 2 weeks for the total trip or two weeks to get from San Francisco to LA?
My stop over suggestions would include:
Monterey or Pacific Grove
Cambria
Pismo Beach
Santa Barbara
