Which neighborhood would you hang out on a Saturday night, specifically July 5th? We are young middle aged and like to have fun. No kids, it will be just us. And where would you eat? Thanks - look forward to your responses.
Best Neighborhood to hang out Sat July 5I think you would enjoy the stretch of Fillmore Street between Japantown at around Post Street at one end, and Clay or Jackson at the other. Eat at the Elite Cafe for Cajun food.

I like the North Beach district for people watching or a nice evening stroll. There are numerous restaurants in the area for you to choose from.
I second the recommendation for North Beach. However, if you%26#39;re feeling a bit adventurous you can also check out the Mission District. The restaurant selection is fantastic, and there are numerous bars where you can listen to live music while you catch a drink. It has more of an urban feel to it than the North Beach area, as you%26#39;ll find many more locals here than tourists. But if you%26#39;re used to maneuvering through big cities, then it shouldn%26#39;t be overwhelming for you.
Here is a link to a helpful website where you can search for restaurants by neighborhood and see reviews from locals.

Some of my favorites in the Mission are:
Esperpento for Spanish Tapas
Ti Couz for savory crepes (they have sweet crepes for dessert too)
Delfina for wonderful, fresh Italian food (you%26#39;ll need reservations for the main restaurant, but you can also eat at their more casual pizzeria which is equally good and located right next door).
Foreign Cinema (California cuisine) it%26#39;s more about the experience of watching a movie while you dine. You should make reservations in advance.
You might also really enjoy Andalu. I%26#39;ve never been but it is quite popular for its tapas and sangria.
The bar scene is not something I am familiar with, but they have an endless selection to choose from. Amnesia,The Elbo Room, and Elixir seem to be a few of the more popular ones.
I%26#39;ll go for North Beach as well.
After many years of visiting The City I never tire of wandering through North Beach , choosing from so many restaurants and just soaking up the vibrant feel of the place.
