My husband and I will be in the Sonoma area next week and were hoping to be able to visit the Merry Edwards Winery as her pinot noir is one of our favorite wines.
After perusing her web site and finding no address or mention of tastings and noting that no one ever mentions it on this site as a good winery to visit, I%26#39;m wondering if her winery is open to the public at all? If not, is there any place else up there to tast and perhaps buy her wine? We have had no luck finding it here in San Diego and although we could order on line, we really would like to taste some.
Any advice will be appreciated.
Merry Edwards winery?
This is a very small winery and probably does not distribute to retail outlets widely.
I assume you have the website, which is here
http://www.merryedwards.com/
and maybe you can get more information from it, like an address.
Merry Edwards winery?
I don%26#39;t know about Merry Edwards, but if you%26#39;re looking for some really great Pinot Noir, check out Nicholson Ranch in Napa, do the reserve tasting, you can sample 3 Pinot Noirs with a Rose and Merlot for $20/pp. Gary Farrell in Healdsburg also has excellent Pinot Noirs. Cheers! :)
Ms--Merry Edwards%26#39; new winery building just recently opened and all the local wine lovers are really excited about this! The winery is located off Hwy. #116 between Forestville and Sebastopol. They currently offer private tastings, but you must make a reservation in advance. Here%26#39;s the #: (888) 388 9050 x 205. I haven%26#39;t heard the cost of the tasting session, so if you go, please post details.
Thanks everyone, we will look for Nicholson Ranch and are truly excited to hear that M.E just opened a tasting room. We will check it out and post when we return.
I work for Merry Edwards. Yes, our winery is open, with tastings by appointment. The address is 2959 Gravenstein Hwy North in Sebastopol.
There is no fee to taste.
Sorry to be so tardy with my report back on the Merry Edwards wine tasting. I called the winery directly and was informed that they had just moved to their new site (this was back in March) and were indeed conducting tastings, no fee. We made an appointment and got very good directions from them. The tasting was very low key, just my husband and I and Ron who was very congenial and gave us lots of information about the different vineyards and wines. It appeared that they were just settling in there as landscaping was still in process.
In my opinion, it wasn%26#39;t the most beautiful of wineries but it certainly was the most intimate and relaxing tasting we%26#39;ve had. We ended up buying some wine for shipment and getting on their mailing list.
I have noticed since that the information about tastings is very evident on the web site so it is easy to arrange.
Thanks again to those who gave me leads on this.
