Scenic or Main Hwy advice

Leaving the Mammoth area and wanting to make an afternoon stop in the Lake Tahoe area, and then spend the night somewhere between Tahoe and Lassen Volcanic National Park.

Do you recommend we drive up the 395 or up the 89? Where to stay?? We are travelling by RV.

Bump.

Trying to get you some responses.

Scenic or Main Hwy advice

Here are some handy websites to locate RV parks/campgrounds:

We recently drove our dually and 30%26#39; travel trailer north on Hwy 395 from Minden, NV up to Susanville. The road is fine, but you will know it the minute you cross back into CA - the road gets rough and patched after being smooth in Nevada, lol. We then took Hwy 139 on up to Klamath Falls.

I%26#39;m not familiar with Hwy 89, but it may be quite narrow?

Are you planning on driving up to Lake Tahoe, or staying on 395? The road around the lake is very slow, curvy and narrow in spots.

Driving up 395 is better from Mammoth Lakes to Lake Tahoe area. Its a very wide road (i.e. 2 lanes most - not all the way - and relatively good for RV driving. You%26#39;ll need to take the turn off to Tahoe from 395....There are a couple of roads to do this. If the RV is fine with hill drives (i.e. has power) any will do. If not, you may want to plan on taking Highway 50 to Lake Tahoe, as its the easiest road to drive to Tahoe.

After Tahoe, I would link up again with 395.

If you want night action (i.e. buffet and gambling) then the Circus Circus in Reno has a nice RV park.

If you want to go further up, then Susanville area (Eagle Lake) is a nice mid way spot.

Hope this helps - if you have more questions, do let us know.

Have a great trip.

Thanks for the info. That does help. Can%26#39;t wait to get on the road!!
