Where to eat in Calistoga?

Visiting in late July. Have been before, but would love to hear recommendations on the latest and greatest dining adventures. No chains, fast food, please. We%26#39;re foodies! Thanks!

Wapo Bar %26amp; Bistro is very good, we like to sit outside under the wisteria vines! :)

You%26#39;re coming to the right location--there are quite a number of excellent restaurants in the pretty little town of Calistoga. Plus you%26#39;ll find so many more as you travel south thru the Napa Valley, so I hope you%26#39;ll be visiting for a long while! I’m in agreement that Wappo Bar and Bistro (www.wappobar.com) at 1226 Washington, is one the town’s best restaurants. You can dine out on the very charming patio or inside their historic building. All Seasons Bistro and Wine Shop (www.allseasonsnapavalley.net) at 1400 Lincoln offers French-Calif. cuisine and a nice wine selection, of course. Altho’ pricey, Brannan’s Grill (www.brannansgrill.com) at 1374 Lincoln, is a long-time favorite offering consistently good food in a sophisticated, but relaxed environment. A new restaurant called JoLe has opened at the Mount View Hotel (www.mountviewhotel.com) loc’d at 1457 Lincoln, and features small plates emphasizing fresh, local ingredients. There’s great bistro-style outdoor dining at the Solage Resort’s SolBar (www.solagecalistoga.com/dining/index.shtml). The resort is off the Silverado Trail on the eastern outskirts of Calistoga. Those are only SOME of the wonderful dining experiences that the area has to offer.

We love the Calistoga Inn. Nice patio setting with a glass of local wine.

My husband and I just visited Calistoga for our 25th wedding anniversary trip. Week of june 14,2008 We ate at the Flat Iron Grill twice, because I fell in love with the prawn appetizer. The fried calamari was the best I have ever had. Not overdone, yet crispy on the outside. So I am recommending the Flat Iron Grill. Don%26#39;t worry there are no real chains in Calistoga--thank God! no mickey dees, applebees or olive gardens here, just great regular restaurants owned and run by people who care! If you are a foodie--you must go to the Culinary Institute that%26#39;s right near Calistoga. They serve lunch there. By the way, there were Culinary Institute Students eating in the Flat Iron Grill-that%26#39;s a good sign. There is a great little place for breakfast on the same side of the street as Flat Iron. Clive runs it. The coffee and the quiche are pretty darn good. Sopfrina across the street does a pretty good breakfast, and it%26#39;s busy also.

You will love Calistoga, it is our favorite ';wine country'; town. People are genuinely nice with NO PRETENSE. It has somehow managed to avoid all the grating slickness of Yountsville and shabbiness of Napa. Consider the barbecue sandwich place at the foothill of the mountain, cheap and good!
