I will be at the Westin St. Francis at the end of August and am wanting good places to eat within walking distance. Any suggestions. Also what is the best way to get from airport to hotel without renting a car?
Thanks

you can use BART if you have a manageable amount of luggage http://bart.gov/guide/airport/airport.asp
or a Lorries Shuttle; follow signs to BART or to Door-To-Door vans.
There are many options near you in Union Square.

Thanks for the info. What are you thoughts on Hotel Vitale? I was thinking of staying there one night. Is that a good area for food?

it is an upscale $20 buffet at lunch; still working out the quirks from just opening but should be great by August or it will have no business - see yelp.com closer to then for newer comments, but so far comments are ';under spiced'; and ';poor service'; and ';over priced'; for the main menu, not necessarily the buffet
Thanks for the info.
There is also Boulevard - just a minutes walk from Vitale.
