Spanish Fiesta week - how busy?

We are intending to spend a couple of nights mid week whilst the fesitval is on. Does the town get v. busy, we would prefer not to book accommodation in advance as we would like flexibility but is this likely to be problem?

Spanish Fiesta week - how busy?

Hi lesleyd,

Yes Santa Barbara gets VERY busy during Fiesta week. Another consideration for booking early is that some of the nicer hotels will continue to raise their rates as their room inventory diminishes. Right now you would have a good choice of ocean front rooms at the Harbor View Inn where you could actually sit on your balcony overlooking the Fiesta Parade and also have the beautiful ocean view. The rates for those rooms are approx. $425.00 US currency per night. The Harbor View has about 8 rooms with this view. Their phone # is (805) 963-0780. If you stay in the beach area you also have access to the shuttle that you can take uptown where there will be many more Fiesta activities.

If you let us know what price range you are thinking of and location you would like to stay in, we can give you more specific information. You picked a very fun time to visit Santa Barbara, I think you will enjoy the pageantry of Fiesta week!

We%26#39;ve spent many anniversaries in Santa Barbara during Fiesta week in August, and it is always packed. We made our reservations months ahead to secure the date, and type of accommodation we want.

As the prior posters have said, Santa Barbara is VERY busy during Fiesta. If you want to secure accomendations, be sure to book well in advance. The main problem you may experience is that most properties require either 2 or 3 day minimum stays during the high season. Good luck and I hope you really enjoy our beatiful corner of the world.

Here is the mistake we made last August...We are native Northern Calif. never had a problem anywhere not finding a room. We drove into Santa Barbara w/out reservations, not knowing there was a festival going on, we went to eat someone over heard us talking about looking for a room they told us we would not find one between Santa Barbara and Monterey because the mid Calif state fair was going on also! They were right we started driving, nothing, or $300 plus. We also had our 2 teens w/us. At midnight we thought forget this we%26#39;re going home,, we pulled into our driveway in Walnut Creek at 3:00 am. I will never go to SB w/out reservations again! We are going in late June though w/reservations! We love that town too! Joanne

Book a room in advance...but don%26#39;t think you need to stay on the beach..there are plenty of hotels on ';upper'; State street that are great. Our Bus system is great also, will take you right to the Center of all the action (although they do not run late...but if your not too far up State you could walk back to Hotel).

AHHH I can Taste my annual Fiesta Torta now!!!
