Hopefully I%26#39;ve called it the right thing;
Anybody know where I can access a nice table of distances between two destinations (popular holiday spots)?
i.e. I have a list of about 10-15 possible places I want to take in on a tour of California next year. To try and work out the feasibility of the route (and places to skip), I%26#39;d like to be able to quickly look at a table (there%26#39;d be a list of places down the side and the same places along the top).
Presumably something like this must exist?
If not, a simple list would suffice.
The sorts of places I am thinking of are:-
Santa Monica, Palm Springs, Joshua Tree Park, Lake Havasu, Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Moab, Bryce Canyon, Zion NP, Vegas (just to stop over), Death Valley, Yosemite, Sand Francisco.
This isnt a definitive list and would consider alternatives inc. convenient stop over places.
Many Thanks Trip Advisors.
Distance Matrix
Here is one that might help: …about.com/cs/maps/l/bl_distance.htm
Do a Google search on driving times and you%26#39;ll probably find more information
Distance Matrix
Thanks for the response.
I actually found (and used) that very table last year when I planned my last jaunt to California.
I just couldnt find it again.
Cheers
In addtion, www.mapquest.com is very good in the States.
In addition, I really like Google Maps. Find your starting point, right click on it and then left click ';get directions to here'; or ';get direction from here';, type in your destination and voila! The blue line is the route they suggest and on the left you can see a turn by turn description, journey time and total mileage.
If you click and drag the blue line you can adapt the route according to the EXACT roads you would like to use and it will recalculate everything.
For example, if you use San Francisco as a start and Los Angeles as an end it will direct you down I-5 but you can drag the route marker to highway 101 or even 1, including detours through little towns you want to visit.
