Latest On Bir Sur Fires for July 4 weekend

Planning to come to Monterey on Thursday night for the weekend.

Anyone can update, please, with the latest info on Monterey/Carmel air quality as related to Big Sur fires. And how far down south from Carmel Route 1 remains open as of today?

Is Point Lobos park remains open and unaffected with the smoke?

Where the actual closure point on route 1 and where the point from which the smoke affects sightseeing?

Any response greatly appreciated.

NASA has satellite photos of the fires/smokes in California, updated every other day or so here:

See what%26#39;s getting burned and smoked out.

Where the air quality is getting smoked sort of changes day to day depending on wind, etc. Think of the smoky air is being kind of a solidarity with Beijing%26#39;s air quality. That%26#39;s the Olympics spirit!
