Hi, I am going to be visiting some friends in Pleasanton but my hubby and I want to go up early on a Thursday and drive to either nappa or sonoma valley. We want to spend 1 night and I%26#39;m having the hardest time deciding. Reading all the reviews and all...
Ideally, we would like a not so touristy but quaint beautiful town to have some good food and good wine. I would love to go where the locals go. I have read alot about Healdsburg %26amp; Yountville but I%26#39;m not sure which is better. Any other ideas for a quick trip? Also, any suggestions on a hotel that is a good value? I really don%26#39;t want to spend over 200 bucks since it will be quick and we won%26#39;t even spend much time in the room. Just to sleep.
Any suggestions from those of you who have traveled the area would be great! Thanks...
As of now, I%26#39;m looking at booking Maison Fleurie in Yountville and going to Bistro Jeantry and the bakery there.
So overwhelmed!
The historic and charming Maison Fleurie would be a fine choice in Yountville. Does Bistro Jeanty have a bakery or are you thinking of Bouchon which definitely does! Either restaurant will provide an excellent dining experience with great ambiance (altho on the noisy side--but that%26#39;s part of what makes it an authentic bistro setting). In Healdsburg I would recommend the Camellia Inn (www.camelliainn.com), reasonably priced, very charming and within walking distance of wonderful restaurants near Healdsburg%26#39;s Plaza. A favorite pick would be Zin, but there are many others to choose from.
So overwhelmed!
Yountville is a lovely place to spend time in, Bistro Jeanty is very good for a meal. REDD and Ad Hoc are also nice. If you go to Healdsburg, Cyrus is an amazing restaurant there, Dry Creek Kitchen @ the Hotel Healdsburg is also great and less pricey than Cyrus. Enjoy the wine country! :)
