Catalina Island

We are staying in San Pedro, a family of 3, is it worth having a trip to Catalina Island, is there much to do there, is it worth the cost of the ferry?

Catalina Island

Catalina is fun and nice departure from the mainland. The water is crystal clear (you can see lots of fish), the scenery is beautiful, and it has a laid-back vacation atmosphere.

That said, price is a definite consideration. The ferry isn%26#39;t cheap, and the activities - snorkeling, kayaking, island tours, golf cart rental - are going to run you more. There are lots of little shops, some fun bars, and a couple of decent restaurants. Don%26#39;t expect a beach (it%26#39;s just a little rocky sliver).

If you%26#39;ve never been, I%26#39;d say give it a shot. I can%26#39;t say I%26#39;ve ever had a bad time there. And it has many excellent photo ops for your vacation.

Catalina Island

Well, San Pedro is at the very southern tip of the city of L.A. If you%26#39;re planning on touring OUR CITY and environs, you%26#39;ll be doing a lot of driving. San Pedro, as stated above, is a nice getaway from the city but, it%26#39;s going to use up an awful lot of your time -- driving to the ferry, parking, and taking it in both directions. If your time in L.A. is limited, I would stay on the mainland.
