Warner Brothers Studio by Public Transport

I will be in LA for 3 days %26amp; nights in August (then 2.5 days / 3 nights in Anaheim). I would like to visit a studio and think that Universal is probably too theme parky for me (esp. as I will be going to Disney anyway). I%26#39;ve heard good reviews of Warner Brothers and think that will be the better option. I don%26#39;t want to spend all day at a studio as there are so many other things to do in my limited time. The timed 2 hour tours will suit me well.

I will be staying in the Hollywood and Hyland area and won%26#39;t have a car. If I catch the redline to Universal City is it walkable to get to WBs or would I be better off taking a bus, such as the 163?

I know a lot of people suggest hiring a car, but I really don%26#39;t want to. I have also noticed that there are a number of people on this board who aren%26#39;t so anti-public transport and offer good advice in this regard.

The #163 is a fine choice. Pick it up on the southeast corner of Hollywood Bl %26amp; Highland Av going eastbound on Hollywood. For schedules, go to MTA.NET. In the upper right corner, put in the following:

In the top box:

HOLLYWOOD / HIGHLAND

In the bottom box:

3400 RIVERSIDE DRIVE

The system will present a number of different ';3400 Riverside'; addresses. Select the one in Burbank.

Note: Do NOT use ';Warner Studios'; as the destination of your bus trip because MTA.NET will direct you to the MAIN GATES of Warner Brothers which are about 1/2 mile from where the tour starts. The tour starts on the ground floor of an office building that is outside of the gates of the studio at 3400 Riverside Drive at the corner of Avon St %26amp; Riverside Drive.

When you get off the bus (20 minutes later), you%26#39;ll be at the corner of Riverside Drive %26amp; Hollywood Way. Continue walking 2 blocks on Riverside until you reach the building (on the corner of Avon St). Go to the rear entrance of the building for easy access to the gift shop where the tour commences. Have fun!

Make sure to get teh schedule of the # 163 prior to your departure as that bus runs not as frequent as all the other buses that are serving the Hollywood area.

That way you will avoid waiting for the bus 30 minutes or more

Thanks all, particularly the detailed route from HSJ. I%26#39;ll have to make sure I don%26#39;t miss the bus as I will likely pre-book a time for the tour. I take it the redline is just too far away from WBs then?

Yes, it is too far away to walk. Most things in LA are too far from each other to walk and usually a good drive. You%26#39;ll be fine using public transportation as long as you have correct expectations, i.e. that you won%26#39;t be able to walk from neighborhood to neighborhood and sight to sight. You will have to take buses most of the time because things are very spread out.

Please note that the bus number from Hollywood to Burbank has changed....it is no longer the 163 bus, it is now the 222.

Thanks, Club.

Yeah, it is the #222 from now on(June 29th)
