Your favourite Beach district! Which one to visit.

Hey!

I need help to choose what beaches to visit whilst in LA!

We are defiantly going to go to Newport Beach but we are not sure which of the other beach areas to visit. As far as I can see our choices are:

Huntington

Malibu

Santa Monica

We don’t really know what we are looking for other than that “SoCal” experience so please feel free to suggest your own personal favourites and let me know what you think we should do.

Thanks again.

Make sure to visit Laguna Beach and while there, drive along the pacific coast highway 11 miles south to San Clamente. Head towards the pier and have lunch at the fisherman restaurant on the pier. Great views, watching surfers, good food...can%26#39;t get anymore so cal than that

Santa Barbara would also be a great option for a day out by the beach

If you visit Laguna Beach, there are some nice restaurants with beautiful views there. Splashes @ the Surf and Sand Resort, Las Brisas and The Cliff are all nice choices. We enjoyed strolling through the art galleries in Laguna and there are some nice boutiques, also. Enjoy your time on the coast! :)

Another beach I%26#39;d recommend is Zuma. It is just north of Malibu. I%26#39;ve always liked it for the following reasons.

1) Massive. The beach is very long and deep. So even on a crowded summer day you feel like you%26#39;ve got plenty of room.

2) Clean. The water quality is typically excellent and so too is the sand.

3) Lifeguards. Lots of them. If you%26#39;ve ever been caught in a riptide, nice to have these guys around.

4) Parking. Tons of it.

5) Facilities. Plenty of places to change, decent bathrooms and showers before you leave. Although, I%26#39;d say they are starting to show their age. Still, serviceable and way better than most beaches.

6) Development. There%26#39;s not really much commercial or retail activity. Yes, there are some hot dog stands, but that%26#39;s pretty much it. I like that. Compared to Laguna or Santa Monica, very different. Just south of Zuma is Point Dume which makes for a nice short hike in the morning. Wonderful ocean views.

7) Surf. This is not really a surfer beach. More for boogie-boarding. Depending upon the previous winter, typically, the ocean floor is smooth and you can get far from shore, but still touch bottom AND get decent surf. Not spectacular for surfers, but perfect for boogie-boarders.

8) Nice drive. Getting there heading up PCH or Kanan Dume Road, if you%26#39;re coming from the Valley; both make for a nice drive.

Very SoCal, but of a more natural kind. If you go during the summer, go early and leave early to avoid the traffic crunch. Do not go late in the day or you%26#39;ll just get stuck in traffic.

Laguna Beach %26amp; Manhattan Beach are absolutely wonderful. Anyway, and although a more ';obvious'; choice, I%26#39;ll always be in love with Santa Monica.

Kindest regards

A really beautiful beach is El Matador in Malibu. It%26#39;s kind of a hidden beach, and it does not have any facilities beyond a very stinky bathroom. However, the beach itself is breathtakingly beautiful, clean and extraordinary. You%26#39;ll recognize the scenery from photo shoots and commercials, but since there is limited parking, it%26#39;s not a very crowded beach. It%26#39;s kind of a hike down (and up) a steep hill and stairway, but worth the extra effort.
