Best hotel in or near Disneyland for family with 2 kids

We%26#39;ve been to Disneyland twice and stayed both times at the Embassy Suites South. We like the free breakfast and the in room microwave, but it%26#39;s a little far to walk with 6 year old boys and it%26#39;s a pain to wait in line for the bus. It would be nice to be able to just walk over to the Grand Californian from the park to take a break/nap or just chill for an hour or two to recharge our batteries. Since we usually end up eating dinner somewhere in Downtown Disney, by the time we%26#39;ve finished dinner the kids are so exhausted that we end up grabbing a cab back to our hotel. Even though the GCal is more expensive, we are thinking it would be worth the extra money vs. convenience. Anyone have thoughts on this? Thanks.

I think it%26#39;s nice, but the Disneyland Hotel would be a bit better experience for the kids and more affordable.

I would go for the Grand Californian, it%26#39;s pretty amazing with so many nice amenities. Have fun! :)

If you have the money and are willing to spend it in that way then do The Grand. We have stayed there and we absolutely loved it. If we can do it again someday we will.

The lobby alone is beautiful!

Hi domrocsmom,

Just to share our experience. We stayed at Carousel Inn and Suites last summer. It is 2 minutes walk to the Disneyland. Very convenient. We stayed in a kids suite, and we were very happy with it. And it is not too expensive. Not sure whether you would want to consider it. You can read my review of the hotel in this site too.

We stayed in a Family Suite at the camelot with our 5 and 7 year olds. Great experience. Large rooms, one with a King and kitchen area (no oven/stove), the other with 2 queens and the bathroom. There was a free breakfast with cereal, muffins, juice, cocoa, coffee etc..

We are staying at the Park Vue Inn at the moment and hav the kitchen suite with a seperate bedroom and living area. They have a free breakfast and it is right across the street from the walkway where the shuttles go. It takes us only a few minutes to walk to Disney and that is with a stroller and 5 year old. It isn%26#39;t 5 star but then again how much time are you going to spend in the romm. It leaves more money to spend at Disney.
