We%26#39;re thinking of booking 2 nights at La Jolla Cove and 2 nights @ the Best Western Blue Sea this Easter weekend. Would these properties be good choices for a couple in their 50%26#39;s? Thanks
Good Choices?I think it would be perfect. I know both the hotel and the location. Again perfect !
I recommend it in this forum when I think it would be a good choice.
It is an easy walk down the hill to the beach, I%26#39;d guess about 5 to 6 minutes. It is also right on the edge of the commercial district (shops and restaurants) and sort of across from a really nice museum.

I haven%26#39;t stayed there for a few years...so I have not reviewed it on TripAdvisor.
Good Choices?Sounds like a super location. Some reviews were a little negative though.
The location is the best part of the deal.
La Jolla in my opinion is the best place to stay.
I%26#39;d guess you got it for $126%26#39;ish
If you%26#39;re demanding and fussy....probably not the best choice. I%26#39;d feel confident that the place is clean and comfortable.
I%26#39;ve also stayed at the Empress which is near...you can check the prices and reviews there....I%26#39;d guess they are in the same category.
If you want to spend more..there are better places in La Jolla.....
If you want to spend something like 125%26#39;ish..you%26#39;re probably going to have to stay at Hotel Circle ..in a hotel with better reviews but very lacking in loacation....
The reviews don%26#39;t bother me...not for this place.
I take it you mean BW Blue Sea in Pacific Beach and not BW Inn by the Sea in La Jolla? A 2 nigh stay in 2 different parts of town? Just want to clarify.
If so Blue Sea is a great location in PB and La Jolla Cove Suites is a great location in La Jolla. You can walk to the beach, restaurants, shops, and parks from both. Park the car and forget about it. As mentioned don%26#39;t expect luxury at either, but I would take both those locations over something high end further removed from the ocean. I don%26#39;t think there is a better hotel room view in downtown La Jolla other than a few overpriced rooms in La Valencia.
I%26#39;ve stayed at the LJCS and here%26#39;s what I recently posted when someone else asked about it:
tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g32578-i334-k22396…
This is the ';Blue Sea'; I was looking at.

Have I got the right one?
Sorry, this is the link.

Silver, yes that%26#39;s the one I was referring to. It%26#39;s about 5 miles south of La Jolla. The website makes it look more glamorous than it is, but great beachfront location. Location and view is the appeal of these places so go for oceanfront at both if you can and if partial view find out where it is. I%26#39;d rather not be facing PB Drive.
Thanks for the tip. I was looking at partial view but I guess I can put in a request not to face PB Drive. Any other recommends anywhere along the coast near SD?
I read your post too fast
and did think you were talking about
Best Western Inn by the Sea
I know both Best Western Inn by the Sea and La Jolla Cove Suites ... why did you choose the la Jolla Cove Suites..
I mention the suites when people are looking for Embassy Suites, Homewood, etc.
Both are fine....I thought Best Western Inn by the Sea would be the least expensive.
Silver- I called the hotel locally and was told that facing PB drive is considered partial ocean view, but not on the low floors further back from the ocean because the lobby and public areas are there so that shouldn%26#39;t be an issue. He said for best partial ocean view request POV facing the pool and if you want to get really specific POV facing the pool WEST. Of course closest to the ocean and higher is probably better. I was thinking rooms facing the pool between the buildings may be best and he confirmed it. No guarantees but it helps to ask.
