Where are you staying? That will make it easier to provide suggestions.

the sheraton at legoland... but we%26#39;ll have a car %26amp; dont mind driving

The beaches in Carlsbad are very nice and there is probably not a 4-year-old in the world who wouldn%26#39;t love spending time at the beach.

I highly recommend driving into the village (downtown Carlsbad) and enjoying one of the many good local restaurants. From your hotel just take Palomar Aiport Road west to Carlsbad Boulevard north (aka 101 aka PCH). Go north about two miles and you will be in the heart of downtown Carlsbad.

Depending upon everyone%26#39;s state of mind after flying into San Diego you might want to go to Sea World on Thursday.

We took our four year old there last year, and if you were to pose this question to him he%26#39;d answer that he would want to go back to legoland again with any spare time you have. We got three month passes from Costco since they were the cheapest way to go for more than one day. If that%26#39;s not an option they have a ';bounce back'; type deal that makes a second day pretty cheap.

If you don%26#39;t want to do Legoland for more than one day, we also enjoyed the beach up at the oceanside pier. Has a big playground right off the beach. We had lunch at the diner at the end of the pier, and he got to build a cardboard car there which he thought was cool.
