Renaissance Stanford Hotel - favorable/unfavorable comments?

Many thanks to fellow travelers for their comments on where to stay in Monterey and Cambria ... also, we%26#39;ve decided to stay in the city of SF rather than ';commute'; in from SFO, during our few days in the Bay area ... so, would folks recommend the Renaissance Stanford Court Hotel?

The key is cleanliness and comfort of the room and baths -- good service would be great, but not critical, if at a decent value rate.

Any other pros and cons? I%26#39;ve read some of the reviews, and they are mixed. But, I would hope that the renovations have improved the facility, if not the service.

Thanks to all!

You%26#39;d get many more responses if you repost this on the San Francisco forum.

I%26#39;ve never stayed at the Stanford Court. It was very hot stuff when it first opened but I don%26#39;t hear much about it now.

It%26#39;s located on Nob Hill, right on the cable car line. That said, you%26#39;ll pretty much always have to go down the hill -- either to Union Square or North Beach/Chinatown or the Wharf. There%26#39;s not much on Nob Hill other than the hotels. However, it%26#39;s a lovely neighborhood.

Sounds like you%26#39;ve checked the reviews and that%26#39;s given you some pause. I%26#39;m sure the place is clean but I believe there are better hotels for the money.

Many people on the SF Forum are high on the Chancellor. It%26#39;s a different class of hotel than the Stanford Court but gets very high praise for service.

Thanks RamblinSal ... good idea.

As for the Chancellor ... no availability for our days there -- but thanks for the suggestion!
