Hotel - Help to narrow it down please

We%26#39;ll be finishing up our honeymoon in SF arriving from Napa on 10th November before flying home on 13th. We%26#39;re handing back our hire car as would like to experience SF on foot and public transport. We%26#39;d like somewhere central to allow us to get to see all that SF has to offer in our short time allowance. We like smaller, more personal type hotels/b%26amp;bs as they seem to give that little extra something. Would love to hear anyone%26#39;s views and experiences to help narrow the field of choice! Everywhere seems to be great!!

Hotel - Help to narrow it down please

I have stayed at the Executive Hotel Vintage Court twice now and both have been excellent. The staff was always friendly. They spoke each time we either came down the elevator or in off of the street. I requested extra towels twice and they were delivered in minutes. In my opinion the location is great, near the corner of Bush and Powell just up from Union Square. The cable car line is at that corner and it was really convenient since we always had the all day pass for public transportation. The 1st time I stayed I had a room with a window to Bush St. It was a little noisy. This past time we were facing the side street / alley and it was really quiet. If you choose this hotel I would suggest request one of those rooms. (Right hand side if your facing the hotel from Bush Street)

Regardless where you stay, have a good trip!!

The Union Square area would be the closest thng to ';central.'; There is lots of shopping around the square and easy transport to other parts: Fisherman%26#39;s Wharf, Golden Gate Bridge, Golden Gate Park. Many people on this forum have great things to say about the Chancellor Hotel on Powell St. It also gets very high marks on TA reviews.

The Disco also gets good reviews and is probably a smaller hotel but it is located in Pacific Heights -- extrememly nice neighborhood but not central for travelers.

There are a number of smaller hotels near Union Square as the previous poster mentioned.

The Washington Square Inn is more of a typical B%26amp;B and is located right on Washington Square in North Beach. (Gets very good reviews on TA.) This is also a central neighborhood. Many restaurants nearby. Walking distance to Fisherman%26#39;s Wharf and Chinatown. Easy cable car or bus to Union Square.

Whichever places you are considering, plug it into TA and read the reviews. I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll find a place that suits you.

Have a lovely time! Bring a jacket, even if the days are warm it%26#39;ll be cool at night.

Oops, I meant Drisco ... not Disco!

That%26#39;s great feedback - much appreciated. Thanks

What you have described is the Chancellor Hotel.

Small boutique, historic hotel perfectly located right on Union Square.

This is a great little hotel with excellent staff and management, recently refurbished rooms with good amenities, little extras like free cookies and other goodies in the lobby, great restaurant for breakfast and really good value.

Read the TA reviews_____it%26#39;s not rated that high for nothing.

Yes, definitely what you have described is the Chancellor, as Oskar says.

It is a charming boutique hotel just half a block up from Union Square. The rooms were completely refurbished in a classy style just last summer

There is a small restaurant which has a really nice breakfast menu, I believe they serve lunch as well, and a small intimate bar area.

The staff here has been really trained to be service oriented. The cleaning people greet you in the hallways, for example, and the desk staff and concierge will help you in any way they can from restaurants, etc. to bus schedules. The cable car runs right past the hotel.

Congratulations and have a wonderful time in San Francisco.
