Saturday night - Mexican followed by good bars!

Hi all,

My wife and I are into the last leg of our honeymoon in LA (been to NY and Kauai before) and want to have a decent night out in LA.

We got here at 5am this morning (3am to our bodies) so are shattered today so going to bed soon and recharging oursleves for tomorrow where we are going to go to Raging Waters.

In the evening we would like to go to a nice (but not too pricey) Mexican restaurant and then several (or one decent!) bar(s). We are staying on Beverly Drive at the Crowne Plaza and woudl also need to know if a) its safe to walk to the recommended places and b) if its just too far anyway. We walked to the Beverly Center this afternoon and was a lot further than we thought so taxi%26#39;d it back!!

Thanks very much in advance,

Richard

How the heck are you getting to Raging Waters without a car???

Saturday night - Mexican followed by good bars!

Yeah, no way to get to Raging Waters by bus and a taxi would be $100+ each way. So scrab that one for sure!

As for a mexican place, if you want something unique, go for

GARDENS OF TAXCO

1113 N.Harper Ave - West Hollywood

By far my favorite restaurant in L.A. Gardens Of Taxco has been a mainstay for over 35 years now. It%26#39;s mexican to the best! No menus here, the waiter will come to your table and ask what you are in the mood for(chicken, beef, fish or shrimp), when you decide, you will be offered(sometimes in singing)what the choices are. Everything is good here, especially the sauces(mole and crema come to mind). This is a 5 course dinner that includes soup, appetizers, maincourse and desert and it wont set you back to much, considering around $20/person is a steal. Perfect spot to come with a date or a bunch of friends. (tue thru sun -(323) 654-1746

For a more wholesome(and very how can i say it, funny in a wierd way atmosphere)

EL COYOTE

7312 Beverly Blvd - Los Angeles

No visit to L.A. is complete without having dinner at El Coyote. This is one of my favorite spots in L.A., always busy, always a line, you come here not really for the food, but for people watching, waitress watching, drinking and making friends. A true L.A.Cult place!

I should also mention that the area is perfectly safe(what is it that people think we are living in a dangerous place? L.A. is one of the safest big cities in the world after all)

Anyhow, as bars go, there are several coolplaces in the West Hollywood area along the Sunset Strip or of course there is Hllywood, which is the center of clubs and bars. Just tell us what kinda places you like so some f us here can give you some good recomendation

Last but not least, unless it is late at night, if you dont have a car, the bussystem on the westside of Los Angeles is outstanding. There is no need to spent all that money on a taxi. Check on www.metro.net

Use there trip planer, punch in your hotels adress and where you want to go and it will tell you on how to get there by public transportation, you might be surprised on how quick and easy you can do it

We%26#39;re back from our honeymoon now but just for information we went to Cabo Cantina on Sunset Boulevard....lovely food, MASSIVE margaritas and also cheap.

For nachos with dips, fajitas, burritos and two side platters of rice, refried beans and dips as well as 4 maragaritas it came to $72.
