We are going to see a friend perform at the Center for Performing Arts in San Jose. We%26#39;ll be driving up from San Luis Obispo. Any recommendations for a hotel nearby? It doesn%26#39;t need to be budget, we%26#39;re only there for a night or two. Thanks!
Hotel near Center for the Performing Arts
Check out the Sainte Claire on Market St. It%26#39;s one of the Larkspur group of hotels.
Hotel near Center for the Performing Arts
The Center for the Performing Arts is located right in downtown, so you are walking distance from 3 great historic hotels: the Sainte Claire, Hotel de Anza, and Hotel Montgomery. If you prefer something more modern (and more expensive), consider the Fairmont. All 4 of these hotels are highly rated here on TA. Good luck, and enjoy the show!
P.S. The Marriott, Crowne Plaza, and Hilton are also within walking distance. These hotels receive relatively high marks here on TA.
Thanks to you all for your posts. I am going to try the Sainte Claire--I really like old hotels. Now, if you%26#39;ve got any suggestions for food, let me know!
Depends on what you%26#39;re looking for. On the inexpensive side of things, I recommend 2 places:
Good Karma - Vegan food and amazing hummus. Located on 1st between Santa Clara and San Fernando. (http://www.goodkarmavegan.com)
La Victoria - Mexican food with famous orange sauce. Located on San Carlos between 3rd and 4th. (http://www.lavicsj.com)
And if boba tea (milk tea with pearl) is your thing, then be sure to stop by Hydration, which is on 3rd just south of San Carlos.
There are several fancier restaurants around downtown, but they aren%26#39;t really my thing, so I won%26#39;t offer any recommendations. Note that Original Joe%26#39;s, just a block east of the Sainte Claire, is a popular local institution. Don%26#39;t expect good food, though!
P.S. If you are looking for a nice sit-down Vietnamese restaurant, try Vung Tao (http://www.vungtaurestaurant.com) on Santa Clara at 12th. There%26#39;s also Vegetarian House (http://www.vegetarianhouse.us) across the street, which doubles as a temple for the Supreme Master.
I like 71 Saint Peter: http://www.71saintpeter.com/
Been to Vung Tao in Milpitas, great food!
