I%26#39;m planning a surprise weekend trip to Santa Barbara area for my boyfriend%26#39;s birthday in mid-october. I was wondering if anyone has good ideas for where to stay, dine, etc.
here is what I%26#39;m looking for:
*a nice bed and breakfast that is quaint and quiet (price range 100-150 per night)
*a nice (but not ridiculously expensive) restaurant (I%26#39;m thinking around $100 for dinner + wine for two)
*favorite wineries
*a nice picnic area for lunch
*a nice brunch for sunday morning
any recommendations would be great! Thanks!
quaint bed and breakfast?
The Four Seasons Biltmore in Montecito would be a nice place for your Sunday morning brunch. If you like Italian food, check out Olie e Limone for your dinner. For your picnic, consider Stearn%26#39;s Wharf, there are picnic tables set out at the pier there, beautiful views of the water and Santa Barbara from the wharf.
Go to nearby Los Olivos for your wine tasting. Gainey is a nice winery to visit in this area. I have heard good things about the Upham Hotel and the Cheshire Cat Bed and Breakfast. Have fun! :)
quaint bed and breakfast?
Prufrock%26#39;s B%26amp;B down near Carpinteria Beach might be somewhere near that price range if it%26#39;s not ';Avocado Festival Weekend';. Otherwise, you%26#39;d be hard pressed to get something quaint %26amp; quiet in SB for $150 on a Saturday night.
The Old Yacht Club Inn is in your price range. It%26#39;s by the beach too.
The Stonehouse Restaurant would be very romantic.
I don%26#39;t drink wine.
Alice Keck Park Park is a nice place for a picnic.
The brunch at the Biltmore%26#39;s Bella Vista Restaurant is lengendary.
Check out the Villa Rosa Inn, they are steps to the ocean and a block from Stern%26#39;s Wharf. They start at $149. Breakfast is included and evening wine reception.

We love staying at the Biltmore and having the Sunday Brunch at the Bella Vista. It%26#39;s located in a beautiful ocean side setting. However, the price is $75 per person, plus 18% gratuity, so would be more than your hotel budget. I just wouldn%26#39;t want you to arrive, and be surprised by the price.
My favorite winery is also my favorite picnic spot. Sunstone Winery, its simply wonderful. Other wineries I like are Firestone, Curtis and Zaca Mesa.
B%26amp;Bs for that price are going to be tough. Did you check the Cheshire Cat Inn?
As for restuarants there are plenty in your price range: For romantic, I would do Stella Mares and rerserve a table in the greenhouse room by the fireplace. Excellent food and reasonably priced.
If there is a particular food you guys love let me know and I can recommend a great spot for you.
