Hotel near San Jose Center for Performing ARts

We are going to see a friend perform at the Center for Performing Arts in San Jose. We%26#39;ll be driving up from San Luis Obispo. Any recommendations for a hotel nearby? It doesn%26#39;t need to be budget, we%26#39;re only there for a night or two. Thanks!

The Hilton is right across the street and there are several hotels in the area. If you want to socialize with your friend late into the evening after his or her performance, all within walking distance of your hotel, this might be one way to go.

A block or so away is S. Market Street, where the Fairmont Hotel is, and a block in the other direction is the Marriott. Plenty of choices, all very walkable and close to dining options.

Best to ask on the San Jose forum, however.

The Center for Performing Arts is in downtown San Jose area. Since you are driving you have lots of options in the San Jose area as well as a bit further out. As such, you can find a place to fit your budget. In downtown San Jose, the Hilton is like a 3 minute walk to the center. The Marriott is nice The fanciest hotel is The Fairmont and has a nice lobby for sitting and enjoying drinks, and a swimming pool on an upper floor. Its nice. There are several parking garages (generally cost about $7.00 parking fees for the events I have gone to recently is about) within walking distance.

Santana Row, which is about 15 minute drive, to downtown San Jose is a fun place to stay with lots of restaurants, stores, and fun area to go to.

is upscale and $$$ but one that you might want to consider.

If you looking just for basic accommodations with lower price, there are Best Westerns, Motel 6, etc. in the area.

Thank you for your reply. I think I%26#39;m going to try the suggestion of someone on the San Jose forum--the Sainte Claire. I really like old hotels. And it%26#39;s just a block from the Center. Now I just need to find a good restaurant...

In the St. Claire - agree a good choice - there is Il Fornaio, which is a wonderful Italian restaurant.
