I%26#39;m an amateur photographer and wanted to get a sunrise shot of Fanette Island and Eagle Point looks like it would be a great place to photograph the sun shinning on the island. Someone at D L Bliss Park said he thought the campground was closed for the season.
Is there a gate that is closed at the entrance at Hwy 89 or can you drive in there year round?
Thanks, Kent
Is Eagle Point Campground closed and is there a gate??
I thought it was going to close on the 15th but who knows maybe it is already closed. I can%26#39;t remember if the gate closes at the entrance station or further down the road. Sorry.
I don%26#39;t know if you can still use for day use in teh off season like DL BLiss. It would sure be convenient not to have to walk down there.
Here%26#39;s the phone number for the ranger for DL Bliss %26amp; Eagle Point:(530) 525-7277.

Can anybody in CA or the Reno area answer this?
Thanks, Kent
Eagle Point is already closed. DL Bliss is closing on the 28th. I had business on that side of the lake this morning, so I stopped by to check it out. That closing date came from the ranger on site.
If the gate is closed, you may not be able to drive in. Park your car on the road and walk in. I love walking through the state parks after the campgrounds are closed. You should be able to capture some beautiful pictures.
Thanks, spotcat and Suzie. The two of you really contribute a lot to this forum.

So Kent to clarify, the gate is closed but you can drive in there year round?
Suzie,
There is a gate near Hwy 89. There is room for several cars to pull off the road but you can%26#39;t drive into the campground. The gate is about 40%26#39; from Hwy 89, but I saw 1 to 3 cars (trucks or SUV%26#39;s) parked near the gate--- camping or squatters I suppose. I got up for a sunrise photo of Emerald Bay and saw the same vehicle a day later.
By the way we went to Tallac History Center (?-- near Fallen Leaf Lake Rd and saw the Baldwin Mansion and took a guided tour of the Pope-Tullis Mansion and thoroughly enjoyed it. I tried to hike from Wrights Lake to Island Lake and got lost (again) and wound up at Grouse Lake. It almost killed me and we tood it easy the next day and went to Angora Lake and had lunch at Beacon Bar %26amp; Grill and listened to the music and enjoyed it.
Miss SLT already.

That sounds so great. I was thinking that the hike down from the gate might be long if they don%26#39;t allow you to drive in.
Did you notice any change in colors yet? I%26#39;m hoping that we see some of that in Hope Valley if we have time to jet over there.
So glad you had weather good enough to do all those outdoorsy things. The other day a bunch of clouds were passing over and I was wondering if they made it to Tahoe.
