Have been to California 3 times before but have never made it to Yosemite!
Am wondering what the conditions will be like - we are flying into LAX and having a few days in Anaheim (so 8 y-o daughter can do Disney)and Palm Springs and then plan heading up (probably with an overnight stop en route) to Yosemite to arrive around April 11th. Was then thinking of going to Tahoe, before ending up in SFO where we fly back home from.
What will the conditions be like around that time? Was thinking of staying somewhere like the Cedar Lodge, will we be able to drive into the village without snow chains etc? Will have rental car (possibly a 4WD)
Any advice most appreciated!

April is not a month known for much snow, but it can happen. If we are to have weather events in April, it is more likely rain than snow. Cedar Lodge is on the route that doesn%26#39;t gain elevation on its way into the park. I would reserve with a fairly good amount of confidence.
Have a grand trip! You will see impressive water falls in April.

A couple of links you might find useful, if you haven%26#39;t already seen them:

You might also check out the park newspaper (formerly Yosemite Today, now the Yosemite Guide) from last April to see what kind of activities are going on that time of year:

Have fun!
