What to do in or around Pamona

My husband and I will be in Pamona for one afternoon and night only and I was wanting to know if there is anything we must do, see or eat. I heard our hotel is near the LA County Fairgrounds. Will anything be going on the weekend of October 4th and 5th? And info would be greatly appreciated.

Do you mean ';Pomona';?

What to do in or around Pamona

Yes, I do. Sorry about that.

Unfortunately you are a little late for the annual Los Angeles County Fair - this fair is always fun to go to.

On the 4th and 5th, there is an Off Road Expo going on at the Fair grounds - so if you are into off road or trucking you are in luck:

Pomona is a suburb community. Its about an hour drive to both Anaheim or to Hollywood area - so if you have a car, you can easily do a fair bit of sightseing during your week-end.

Pomona Valley Mining Company (nearby to where you are staying) has a nice view of the valley from the restaurant.

If mountains interest you, you can drive up to Mt. Baldy on Mt. Baldy Road (see GoogleMaps). From there, for a spectacular drive that many locals don%26#39;t even know about, take Glendora Ridge Road back to Glendora, then old Route 66 (Foothill Blvd) east to Pomona.

I have cousins in Pomona, and they%26#39;ve taken us to the Pomona Valley Mining Co. for dinner. The view is the best. Be sure to make reservations by the window if you go.

If you want to see some bears while in California, I have always seen bears in some of the foothill areas by the San Gabriel Mountains. In fact, on trash days, the bears come out big time. The trash cans are out....at each house..and the bears go from trash can to trash can to see what is inside.

I think the bears there think its just hundreds of amazing picnic baskets for them on trash days.

They also go swimming in some of the homes swimming pools.

(Most likely you won%26#39;t see any....but if you do go into the foothill regions...keep your eyes open as you just might.)

If you like to go shopping, Ontario Mills mall is not too far from Pomona. And also Chino Hills where they have a lot of nice shops and restaurants.
