driving - from san fransisco -yosemite death valley -las veg

hi,

i am an aussie arriving in the states late sept and staying for 2 weeks - i am hiring a car and want to drive up to yosemite and then over to las vegas via death valley - well unless anybody has any better ideas. after las vegas want to head to los angeles. thats the basic idea anyways - i was wondering if anybody has any ideas of things to see etc on the way.

any suggestions would be appreciated -i have two treenage boys as well - so i need to keep them amused to :)

There are things to see in Vegas, and things to see in Los Angeles but the roadtrip between the two is quite boring.
