Honeymoon: San Fran - Yosemite - Grand Canyon - Hawaii

Hi there

I%26#39;m trying to piece together an itinerary for my forthcoming honeymoon next June/July. We are torn between the usual problem of wanting to see everything but not wanting to stretch ourselves too much. We should have about 3 weeks, so the below is my first attempt at an itinerary, which I would really appreciate some input on from you experts.

Fly to San Fran (2 nights)

Head up to wine country - Napa/Calistoga (4 nights)

[drive down to Monterey/Big Sur (2 nights)]

Yosemite/ Mammoth Lakes (2 nights)

Death Valley (1 night)

Las Vegas (1 night)

Grand Canyon (1 night)

Back to Las Veags for flight to Hawaii (7 nights)

The basic idea is to have a few days/week to relax and take things easy to begin with before hitting the road properly and then relax on the beach in Hawaii to finish. I know this should be doable but is the middle week pushing too hard.

many thanks

I think you are fine...

It depends in part what you want to see in Las Vegas - 2 days might be nicer there if you have not been.

You might want to base yourself in Las Vegas for 3 days and just take a day tour to Grand Canyon. (Note: However it is grand to stay a night so close by.).

Spend one less day in Napa.

The change would then be:

2 nights San Francisco

3 nights Napa/Sonoma

2 nights Monetery/Carmel/Big Sur

2 nights Yosemite/Mammoth Lakes

3 nights Las Vegas

What island in Hawaii are you going to for the 7 nights (we%26#39;ve been lots and you%26#39;ll have a good time.). If stsying only in Honolulu then your original plan works well. The outer islands (Big Island, Maui, Kauai) are more restful and pretty.

Congratulations also.

Great, thanks. Glad it looks doable, now we can get on with choosing hotels and routes etc :-)

To be honest, despite living in London we don%26#39;t really like the big city environment - much more interested in spending our time out in the country, hence the night in Grand Canyon rather than LV. Plus, I thought it would be quite a long round trip to GC and back?

In getting from Big Sur to Yosemite would you advise doubling back to Monterey or continuing to Cambria?

As for Hawaii, probably Maui as it really appeals to us. Do you have any good recomendations for hotels here bearing in mind that we want to get away from it all but still have some decent restaurants around?

really appreciate you taking the time to reply, thanks :-)
