Hi,
I know there have been a lot of posts about hostels in LA but having read all of them just makes me more and more uncertain of which one to choose!
One of my main concerns is price, (hence I am only looking at hostels)I am coming for a 3 week trip and will be spending probably 4-5 days of that time in LA, would like to find somewhere that has breakfast, sheets and parking (as I will have a hire car) included in the price. I was going to book with Banana Bungalow but they and their sister premises seem to recevied mostly negative review. (BTW, they have the same pics on the website as Orbit).
Also I am not keen on making a reservation online thru a website which is not secure (https) which many of these aren%26#39;t (incl. Banana).
I don%26#39;t really mind where in LA I stay (beach or town), I have never been there before. As long as it in a safe area ...
Have looked at several hostels in LA incl. Hollywood International Hostel, USA Hostels Hollywood, HI Santa Monica, Orange Drive, Banana Bunglow Hollywood, BB West Hollywood, Orbit, NoHo, Venice Beach Cotel .... seems like hostels cost quite a lot in LA or is that just me :-) All these places seem to get very mixed reviews so I really don%26#39;t know what to do .. maybe I should just book for a couple of days and if I like the place I can always extend the booking.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Trouble choosing a hostel
Orbit and USA Hostel usually get good reviews, so I am not sure where you are reading the bad ones. I;m not sure if USA has parking, but check out the info on hostelZ.com
Trouble choosing a hostel
If you want to stay by the beach the Venice beach cotel is hard to beat(On a personal note, i spent 6 months there and it was the best time of my life)
The santa monica hostel on 2nd street is great because it is still close to the beach and walking distance to alot of great bars, shops, restaurants.
The hostel on schrader blvd in Hollywood would put you right smack in the middle of the party/club action. You can walk to hundreds of clubs, bars restaurants. So if that is something you fancy, it would be a good choice as it is centrally located and served by public transportation 24/7, so you can always make time to see other touristy sights and the beach
L.A. Is all about options, you choose what you like
Hi guys, thanks for the info, will do some more research. BTW the reviews I read were here on Trip Advisor and on Hostelworld.com
