Hi please can anyone tell me the is it better at the moment to exchange money in L.A rather than home (london)??? will i get a better exchange rate there in L.A?????
better to exchange my money before i got to L.A from London?
Out here there are all kinda fees attached for changing money. Get some traveler checks in london, use your credit card rather then hastle with some shady cach chacking places out here(and some banks dont even exchange money anymore)

Using a ATM card is usually the best way to withdraw money. Cash withdrawals are exchanged based on the wholesale exchange rate, and is 2-5 % better than exchanging traveler checks.
Change your money in London, because by the time you get to the USA, we might not HAVE any money anymore.
Changing foreign currency in Los Angeles can be a challenge. It%26#39;s best to change money in your home country before you leave or to buy travelers checks in US dollars. Alternately, you can use many credit cards to withdraw dollars from Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs)which are located at the airport, at banks, supermarkets and tourist areas. Most hotels, restaurants, tourist attractions, taxis and other businesses accept major credit cards, so you don%26#39;t need to carry a lot of cash. Visa and MasterCard (EuroCard) are the most common.
If you do need to change foreign currency in LA, these are your options:
At LAX, there are currency exchange booths in the upper level departure area of all terminals and in the arrivals area at the Bradley International Terminal. Traveler%26#39;s checks can be exchanged at every terminal. Visa card and MasterCard cash advances available up to USD 300 at ICE currency exchange kiosks at Terminals 2, 3, 5, 7, and Tom Bradley Terminal.
We travel extensively and we never exchange money. We simply use our ATM card, and, as mentioned above, the exchange rate we get is usually as close to the best as we can get.
There are ATM%26#39;s in all of the major airports, so it is easy to get local currency when you arrive for such expenses as cab fare to your hotel, etc.
I would be a good idea to at least get some US currency before coming to the US. I believe the exchange rates are better there. But as mentioned above, Credit Cards such as VISA can probably be used 90% of the time. But for that rare occasion when they insist on cash, it is good to have some currency. Your ATM card from a major bank would probably work here too in order to get additional currency depending upon how long you are here, but there are added fees when using an ATM card, although the exchange rate might not be bad.
Ummmm...I think I didn%26#39;t state my case.
You just use your ATM card as you would at home, drawing out funds as you need them.
It is probably good to take out as much as you need for at least several days because, yes, each withdrawal has a small fee attached.
The world has changed. Traveler%26#39;s checks are dinosaurs, going to currency exchange places is a ripoff.
Thank you everyone for your advice!
much appreciated!
