I am travelling from the Uk at Christmas with my family of young children. Going to Disney for a few days then the plan is the have a couple of days in LA then drive through Joshua up to South Rim grand canyon, hoover dam, las vegas and then return to LA via death valley. I have set aside 4 days and 3 nights for this driving part of the trip. We have been to vegas before so basically will be passing through only for a half day hopefully getting a helicopter ride over the canyon (do I need to pre-book). My concerns are really about the weather, maybe icey roads. Do i need to hire a 4 x 4? Will the roads be well treated? My fear is that we breakdown etc and because it%26#39;s not peak season in Death Valley etc that we will be stranded if there aren%26#39;t many people passing or around. Safety comes first. Should I make the drive or should I just stay in LA area. Would welcome advise from anyone who has visited over Christmas and New Year. thanks
